You’ll find Meadow Brook Hall on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. If you or your guests are heading to the venue from Detroit, the drive to the venue will be anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. 

The venue does not offer overnight accommodations. However, guests staying in the city can easily shuttle or carpool to Meadow Brook Hall together. There are a number of routes to take from Detroit to Meadow Brook Hall, which, of course, depend on the flow of traffic for the day. We recommend providing your guests with transportation information ahead of time through your wedding website or stationery suite. Parking Accommodations

As part of your Meadow Brook Hall wedding package, the venue offers the ability to add on valet services. Parking on campus is free and offered on the grounds of the estate for weddings and events. But one consideration you may need to make is accommodating guests with mobility issues. Spaces Available for Hosting Your Wedding at Meadow Brook Hall

Meadow Brook Hall is an indoor/outdoor wedding venue, with several spaces on the grounds to choose from to accommodate each of your wedding day events.

Wedding Ceremonies

Ceremonies at Meadow Brook Hall are primarily held outdoors on the grounds of the estate’s natural setting, surrounded by manicured topiaries in the backdrop. The open setting offers an atmosphere of tranquility where wedding vows are exchanged in the company of friends and cherished family members. There are two garden ceremony spaces to choose from: the Pegasus Garden, the Rock Garden and English Walled Gardens. 

Pegasus Garden

The Pegasus Garden includes a stone-lined pathway leading up to the altar with rows of white folding chairs set up on either side to seat your guests. This space hosts wedding ceremonies with the estate’s bronze Colt Pegasus sculpture and tiled fountain in the backdrop. The setting is somewhat grand in scale, yet it provides a feeling of seclusion and intimacy.

The Rock Garden and English Walled Gardens

By far the largest rock garden in Michigan, the Rock Garden & English Walled Gardens at Meadow Brook Hall are a sight to behold. The towering brick walls create a semicircle with stone steps creating an aisle that leads up to the altar platform. This space leads the way to the estate’s tea house and embodies the ambiance of Meadow Brooks Gilded Age charm.

Rain Plan

In the event of rain, Meadow Brook Hall will move your wedding ceremony indoors to the ballroom. The rain plan space will depend on your guest count. The ballroom can seat up to 100 guests facing the fireplace, or up to 150 guests on the second floor of the ballroom facing the stained glass windows.

Planning Tip: The grassy ceremony spaces at Meadow Brook Hall can be tricky for guests when it comes to footwear. Let your guests know ahead of time, for comfort, that heels should be avoided in favor of wedges, flats, or even block heels. This goes double for your wedding party, who will be joining you for your photography experience throughout the grounds of the venue.

Wedding Receptions at Meadow Brook Hall

Meadow Brook Hall hosts weddings from December through November, fully protected from the elements, whether you choose an indoor or outdoor reception. 

Garden Tent

For outdoor wedding receptions, Meadow Brook Hall offers a tented wedding experience in the gardens through their climate-controlled, clear-sided tent. The views from inside this space are surrounded by greenery, with the garden’s stone wall, and the facade of the estate stretched along the backdrop. The interior of the tent is very much a blank slate, allowing you to create the wedding day you envision, in any selected style that fits your personality for an unforgettable event.

Cocktail Hour

Wedding day cocktail hours are also hosted outdoors at Meadow Brook Hall. On the south end of the estate, the Loggia Terrace overlooks a golf course. The grassy area is surrounded by a stone patio where you can serve guests your custom-crafted cocktails and lite bites while you enjoy the grounds for your wedding photos.

Ballroom

Meadow Brook Hall opens the doors of its two-story Gothic inspired ballroom for receptions inside the estate home. However, they provide less space than the garden tent and are better suited for guest lists under 200. The space is warm and has stood the test of time with arched stone walkways and paneled ceilings lit by glowing electric lanterns.

Christopher Wren Dining Room

The secondary indoor space for hosting your reception at Meadow Brook Hall is the Christopher Wren Dining Room. This intimate dining space mimics the grandeur and detailing of the estate home with warm features and an elaborate, carved ceiling. Though this space does not have a dance floor, once dinner is over, you have the option of moving from the dining room to the ballroom with your guests to enjoy a night of celebration to your favorite beats.

Total Capacity of Meadow Brook Hall Weddings

Meadow Brook Hall is grand in scale, allowing weddings with larger-sized guest lists to enjoy an evening made for connections. In total, the climate-controlled tent on the grounds of the venue can seat up to 300 guests on the evening of your wedding, with plenty of room for a dance floor. If you prefer to host an indoor wedding at the venue, the ballroom can seat up to 150 guests or accommodate a strolling reception with up to 275 guests in attendance. Wedding receptions at the Christopher Wren Dining Room are configured by allowing 94 seated guests in the main room and 6 guests in the connected breakfast nook for a total of 100 seated guests.

Meadow Brook Hall Wedding Cost

Meadow Brook Hall has two distinct sets of costs for couples hosting a wedding. One for weddings taking place during season and one for weddings held off-season.

May through November is considered wedding season at Meadow Brook Hall, and weddings taking place on Fridays and Saturdays during these months begin at a cost of $43,000.

December through April is considered off-season at Meadow Brook Hall, and weddings taking place during these months begin at a cost of $20,000.

What you need to know: the above Meadow Brook Hall wedding prices are the expected starting cost for your venue fee, food & beverage experience, taxes, and any applicable service charges. These fees do not yet include the cost of your other wedding day needs, such as planning, photography, and florals.
