DETROIT HAS OUR HEARTS, BUT THE WORLD IS OUR BACKDROP.
As Motor City natives (yup, we actually live in the city), we know all the best spots for breathtaking shots! Detroit has been our stomping ground for our whole lives, so we’ve got a mile-long list of amazing, out-of-the-box locations.
Michigan winters can be beastly, though, so we head south for much of the season. When we’re not photographing weddings in Detroit, we’re shooting in our scenic, splendid second-home city of Tampa.
And we adore destination weddings, so even if you’re not getting hitched in Michigan or Florida, give us a shout!
A TRULY DYNAMIC DUO
Working as a wife and husband team suits us perfectly, and our unique blend of skills and personalities has earned us rave reviews. Shaun is a wizard with composition and framing, capturing elegant details and evocative facial expressions with equal finesse. Rosy puts everyone at ease with her infectious laugh and boundless energy, expertly scooting people into place for perfectly un-posed portraits.
We work in perfect synch, ensuring that each moment is depicted from multiple visual angles. More on the advantages of a two-person photography team here.
Well, hello there! Delighted to meet you, and can’t wait to get all the details on your big day.
I’m a Mexican-American Detroit girl through and through, and so proud to work and shoot in my hometown. I first took an interest in photography during high school (don’t even ask for my graduation year, you cheeky monkey!), then worked as an assistant to a seasoned wedding photographer for three years before striking out on my own. As a solo shooter, I photographed newborns, kiddos, families, quinceañeras, and high school senior portraits. (Know a graduating senior? I still do portraits through Silver Lights when I’m not busy with weddings!)
Shaun and I have been photographing weddings together for almost a decade, and revel in our creative partnership. We explored dozens of shooting styles before nailing down what we love and what works best for our clients’ needs. I adore working with my brilliant and hilarious husband, playing off each others’ strengths to highlight love, movement, and emotional interaction in every frame. My Shooter Superpower? I tend to be extra-relaxed during stressful times and sensitive moments, which puts my couples instantly at ease.
I’m not wild about jumping on photography-trend bandwagons, and focus instead on presenting you with vivid, timeless, authentic photographs. You’re trusting me to create works of art that will help you, your family, and future generations remember this event, and I take that trust very seriously. I firmly believe I have the best, most rewarding job in the universe, and love using my camera to capture every little detail and all the big feelings.
I promise to create photos that will show you exactly how awesome, weird, and utterly perfect your love is!
Five fun facts about me:
1. I’m a total wanderlust. I love traveling with my whole heart!
2. I adore animals. If it’s got fur, fins, or feathers, I count it as a friend.
3. I'm obsessed with succulents and air plants.
4. If it’s Disney, count me in.
5. When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll probably find me shopping at a local boutique, hitting the farmers market, doing a little DIY project, or showering our two shitzus and queenly Khaleesi the cat with kisses.
Welcome. Thanks for stopping by our little corner of the web.
Like Rosy, my passion for photography goes all the way back to high school when I stalked my awkward classmates with a clunky 35mm. After that, I attended film school at the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan and continued to hone my shooting skills. I went on to apprentice with a master darkroom printer, worked as a fashion and concert photographer, and taught photography through the Detroit Public School System. Now I’ve got more than 15 years of experience under my belt, and love working as a professional wedding photographer in and around my hometown of Detroit.
I handle the business side of our joint endeavor and also do most of the post-editing, but don’t go thinking I’m some dull, geeky paper-pusher. I’m in my element at a lively, bustling wedding, and during the ceremony I'm all about getting great candids. I rarely stay in the same spot for more than 20 seconds, silently shifting stance and weaving around the room to bag the best possible shots. When it comes to portraits, I experiment with angles. I'll shoot through bushes like a stalker, lay on soaking wet grass, run in the middle of the street, anything for a stellar, emotive, perfectly framed photograph.
I can't imagine doing any other job. And the best part? I get to work every day with my best friend, who also happens to be my beautiful wife. (Yes, that’s sappy.)
Five fun facts about me:
1. I love pretty much anything mid-century modern.
2. I have over 150 Starbucks city mugs! Rosy say's I'm out of control.
3. I’ve served as director of photography on a variety of motion picture projects, ranging from music videos and documentaries to short films.
4. My playlists are packed with Run the Jewels, the National, Tv on The Radio, Drake, and Joy Division.
5. When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll probably find me searching for hidden treasures at estate sales, cooking up a DIY home project with Rosy, or catching up on my favorite TV shows.
