Waterview Loft at Port Detroit Wedding

Waterview Loft at Port Detroit, have you heard of this wedding venue? It’s an exclusive venue located in the center of downtown Detroit, right next to The Renaissance Center. This riverfront venue is a blank slate space and gives couples exclusive use of the venue on their wedding day. Which we absolutely love, because who wants to see or hear another wedding going on right next to theirs?! Aside from its prime downtown location and exclusivity, the waterfront views are prime! In fact, at Olivia and Jack’s wedding at Port Detroit, The Detroit Princess graced us with her presence. We were able to get a clear shot of the riverboat in all her glory. And that’s thanks in part to the glass atrium architecture of this venue!

Another thing we heart about this venue? It’s an all-in-one-stop shop. Ceremony and reception in one space. Is there anything better than that? When they were ready to be joined in marriage, Olivia and Jack held their wedding ceremony in the venue’s window-lined conservatory. Ultra-modern, and a little industrial, this space was outfitted with rows of white chairs for their guests and a drapery-style altar where they said their I dos. A fun wedding program, that included a massive crossword puzzle, awaited their guests before things kicked off.

If anything is for sure apparent about Olivia and Jack, it’s that they are a family-centered couple! During their wedding ceremony, they included a “ring warming”. If you’ve never heard of it before, a ring warming is when the couple getting married has their rings passed around (usually to their wedding party and immediate family) to be infused with love and well wishes! Olivia and Jack started out by having the rings passed down to the groomsmen, then their first two rows of seated guests, and then back to the bridesmaids. It was a super sweet moment to see multiple generations ‘warming’ the couple’s rings. From parents to grandparents and the adorable steal-your-heart flower girls, you’ll get to see the unique tradition in the photos below!

Having a loft-style wedding at Port Detroit within walking distance of the urban sprawl, AND water views means one thing! A wedding photography experience, packed, we’re talking filled to the brim with an array of backdrops! Having worked in the city for, let’s be honest, longer than we can recall, we knew exactly where to explore with our bride and groom to give them the best experience possible. However, we couldn’t include every.single.shot in the photos below, but we did include a handful of our favorites.
