Detroit City Distillery Wedding

Shaina and Scott’s wedding at the Detroit City Distillery, aka the Whiskey Factory, was epic. I mean, when the entire wedding party kicks things off by taking a shot together during portraits, you know it’s going to be good!

Though the Detroit City Distillery has some deep historical roots, it’s still a working spirits factory that just so happens to double as a wedding venue. In fact, weddings held here are in what’s called the ‘rickhouse’. Picture this, barrels of aging whiskey in every direction you turn setting the scene for an unforgettable night! Needless to say, if you decide to get married here, taking a shot (or two), is highly encouraged!

Our bride, Shaina, is insanely gorgeous. You know that bright shining smile of hers? Even more vibrant in person! As a bride, Shaina was positively glowing and her wedding day style was on point. In fact, Shaina’s wedding day look evoked a few happy tears from her groom during their first look. Scott was instantly overcome with joy after Shaina tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around to see his beautiful wife-to-be. It was one of those lighting-in-a-bottle moments that gave us a glimpse into their love story. You’ll get to see the exact moment in the photos below.

One of the things we love about Shaina and Scott’s wedding venue is the proximity. The Detroit City Distillery is less than a mile from downtown Detroit. Do you know what that means? All the best photo locations! This gave us the opportunity to work with some of our favorite backdrops in the city. In fact, Shaina and Scott were such naturals in front of the camera that there was no way we could go wrong! Under stands of bistro lights outdoors, against the brick facades of the buildings all around us, and by the handpainted murals of the city, Shaina and Scott relished in each moment while we snapped away.

But where they really shined the most, was during their wedding ceremony. Shaina came down the aisle escorted by both of her parents and the look that she and Scott exchanged in that moment, set the tone for their vows. While their guests warmed their wedding rings with love, Shaina and Scott recited personalized vows of marriage, promising to love and cherish one another for all of their days. Once they were pronounced married, an eruption of smiles and cheers took over and it was time to spend the night celebrating the newlyweds.
