Highlands Detroit Wedding Venue

Emma and Brennan did it up big for their wedding at Highlands in Detroit. Located on the 72nd floor, Highlands Detroit is an ultra-modern wedding venue. In fact, the 360-degree views are so epic from that high up in the sky that depending on which way you turn, you’ll be taking in views of the US or Canada!

The dress code for the day was snazzy cocktail attire and some of the guests, ahem: Dad, even took it up a few notches. But we’ll get to that in a minute. Once Emma and Brennan were dressed and ready to go, the first order of business was a first look between Emma, her dad, and her brothers. Friends, try to hold back the tears when you see this moment because Dad was an absolute softy for seeing his daughter in her bridal gown. Remember that snazzy cocktail attire we mentioned? Well, Emma’s Dad had a special tie made for the day. A pink tie that matched the overall color palette of the wedding party attire. However, there was a photo printed on the back of that tie. One of Dad holding Emma when she was just a tot. It will seriously melt your heart!

After Emma and Dad shared their sweet moment, it was time for Emma and Brennan’s first look. We have to tell you, the High Bar at Highlands was the perfect place for their first look. It was filled with mid-century modern furniture, warm tones, and all the light streaming in from the world below. As an added bonus, the bar wasn’t yet open for the day so we had the place all to ourselves. This allowed us to work on indoor wedding portraits with Emma and Brennan before rallying the wedding party.

Once Emma, Brennan, and their wedding party along with their parents finally did rally, it was for a good cause. They all hopped on a tricked-out graffitied school bus to head to The Brakeman for some pre-wedding cocktails & a quick round of foosball. Actually, when Emma and Brenna stepped foot in The Brakeman they were treated to a round of cheers and applause from the good people of Detroit who just so happened to be there enjoying the libations when they arrived.

Needless to say, that was not the beginning or the end of the merriment for the day, because the wedding party came to the portrait session with shots. Ready-to-go shots, in plastic syringes – naturally. Yes, we absolutely caught every moment of this, and you’ll get to see the photos below! We’re guessing that whoever put the shots together was a little heavy-handed on the pour too. Because Emma and Brennan’s faces say it all! With all the breakout pre-wedding celebratory moments going on, it was finally time to get these two married!

Highlands Detroit Wedding Venue

High above Michigan, Emma and Brenna’s wedding ceremony was held in the ballroom of Highlands Detroit. There were plenty of laughs as they took their vows, from the bride and groom as well as the crowd. But there were a few happy tears thrown in the mix as well. Emma and Brennan also planned a unique unity ceremony and watered a tree together. Isn’t that so beautifully poetic? We thought it was so telling of how they nurture each other and what marriage will bring their way in the future.

Before the wedding reception celebration officially kicked off at Highlands Detroit, Emma and Brennan decided to have a room reveal. So many of our couples love a room reveal before their guests arrive. It gives them the opportunity to see the setup they envisioned during the wedding planning process. But, it also gives them a little extra added dash of carved-out time together. Before the guests arrived, before the bride and her Dad’s choreographed dance, Emma & Brennan got to stroll around their reception space and breathe it all in.
