The Garden Theatre Wedding Detroit

Core memories were created for Jessica and Michael’s wedding at The Garden Theatre in Detroit!

The Garden Theatre in Detroit? Kind of a historic wedding venue! But, it wasn’t always a wedding venue. The building dates all the way back to 1912 when it was opened by architect C. Howard Crane and dubbed a renowned “movie place”. Since then The Garden Theatre has been reimagined into a live music & wedding venue with a bar and eatery. The venue is heavy on the vibes with an epic mezzanine, brick walls, and lights everywhere! Jessica and Michael selected The Garden Theatre to host their Detroit wedding and after meeting them we can totally see why! Jessica and Michael have so much heart and soul. It’s easy to say that about any couple on their wedding day, but seeing it in action, for Jessica and Michael, was being allowed to step into their inner circle and soak up all the goodness surrounding them.

In her getting-ready suite, we set Jessica and her bridesmaids up with a first look. If you have a super tight group by your side on your wedding day, we cannot stress enough how amazing it is to enjoy this special moment with them! After Jessica was buttoned up, her bridesmaids patiently waited with their backs turned to catch a glimpse of Jessica in her classic and sleek wedding day look. Friends, grab your hanky because the flood of emotions was just pure joy. Happy tears, warm embraces, and the biggest smiles you will ever see! While Jessica and her crew had their moment, Michael was grabbing a hug from his beautiful mom, who then affixed his boutonniere. With the vibrant flowers fastened to his lapel, his groomsmen grabbed a quick beer while he opened a gift from his bride.

Jessica + Michael’s Wedding at The Garden Theatre Detroit

Pretty soon, it was time to hit it. And by hit it, we mean getting both sides of the wedding party together so we could work our wedding photography magic. Jessica and Michael expressed to us how much they love the natural beauty of our city, including the grit. So we had the perfect photo location in mind to work with them on their photography experience. We get how nerve-wracking it can be to have a camera pointed at you all day, on your wedding day no less. But we were ready to have some fun with Jessica and Michael. Once we found our flow, all those wedding day nerves fell by the wayside and Jessica and Michale were absolute rockstars. You’ll get to see some of our favorite shots from their Garden Theatre wedding in Detroit, below!

From an epic photography experience to a heartwarming ceremony. A cocktail hour where the bride tearfully FaceTimed with a guest who, regretfully, could not attend in person. Meanwhile, a marquee light blazed on the stage all night long. Plus all the fabulous details in between (did we mention the nighttime photo shoot against the skyline of the city?). You can see each and every memorable detail of Jessica and Michael’s wedding through the photos below.

From the Bride

“One of the things that Michael and I considered a top priority for our wedding was our photographer. They were responsible for capturing the core memories that we want to live on forever. We wanted a photographer that was fun and personable, had a good eye for those candid moments, and brought our photos to life with rich colors. Rosy and Shaun hit all of the marks!

The first time we met Rosy and Shaun was for our engagement shoot. It can be awkward getting in front of a camera, in public, or around strangers. But something about their energy had us feeling at ease almost immediately. They are just really cool people who are passionate about what they do. They shared our love for Detroit and had no problem getting creative to capture our vision of grit, nature, and beauty.

On our wedding day there were a few moments from working with Rosy and Shaun that really meant a lot. Rosy spent a lot of time with us in the bridal suite and got along with our other vendors like they were best friends. It was the coolest thing to see. She also stepped in to help my bridesmaids with little things like buttoning my dress or fixing my veil. That’s where her experience as a bridal photographer really stepped up. Not only for her taking amazing photos, and getting along with other vendors. But she knows the little tips and tricks to help everything run more smoothly.”

From the Bride

“Also, the last thing I want to mention, they were excited for us! We could feel how excited they were to capture every moment. We found a unique place to take our bridal party photos and I felt like we could’ve spent all day shooting with them. They had so many ideas and every time we thought we got it all they had something else they wanted to try. It was so fun! They helped us close out the night by taking a final set of photos, against the skyline, as the sun was setting after I put on my reception dress. Those final photos really wrapped up the emotion and energy from the entire day. Michael and I have a gorgeous set of wedding photos that we look at every single day. Every moment from getting ready, our first look, photos with our bridal party and family, the ceremony, our venue, toasts, and dancing. It’s all there and we couldn’t be more grateful to have had Rosy & Shaun by our side to capture it all! I can’t say enough about them. Thank you!!”
