Alyssa and Michael’s wedding at the Detroit Opera House was every bit as opulent and elegant as the venue itself. We met Alyssa and Michael during their engagement session on the waterfront. They came dressed to kill in rich tones and they had that whole timeless romance vibe, down! Those warm rich tones showed up again on their wedding day at the Detroit Opera House and you’ll get to see what we’re talking about in the photos below.
On wedding day, Alyssa and Michael got ready at the nearby Siren Hotel. They decided that adding a first look to their photography experience was the right choice for them. So we set them up in the Candy Bar of the Siren Hotel. Creamy pink walls, pink tufted seating, and a massive disco ball hanging from the ceiling was the spot where the bride & groom laid eyes on each other for the first time on wedding day. Knowing the Detroit Opera House would host their wedding ceremony and reception, it was fun to add a backdrop to their wedding day photos that came across a bit more playful.
With the first look behind them, it was time to take to the streets with their wedding party! The wind that day was unexpected but we worked with it. Especially when we noticed Alyssa and her bridal party having a good laugh about the wind blowing their hair every which way. After all, those unscripted, candid moments are always packed to the brim with unabashed joy, and they are so worthy of making the cut for your wedding album!

On our way to Broadway Street, we let the towering facades of the buildings in Downtown Detroit do their thing in the backdrop. Before we hit the bright lights of the Detroit Opera House, we got Alyssa, Michael, and their wedding party to stop in front of Simmons and Clark to get a few shots with that iconic clock, off in the distance. It was time to make our grand entrance at the Detroit Opera House for Alyssa and Michael’s wedding ceremony. Opulence is the name of the game at this venue. Gilded walls, lavish details, and access to the stage and rooftop for amazing wedding day photos!
When Alyssa made her way down the aisle, she and Michael shared a moment, and we watched it become a memory. Oftentimes, couples have objections to a first look on their wedding day because they want the experience of that moment during the ceremony. We’re here to say, that’s not always the case. And Alyssa and Michael’s moment only proves that you can absolutely have the best of both worlds.
After officially being pronounced married, Alyssa and Michael spent the night in the company of their guests. Cocktail glasses clinked in honor of the bride and groom, and guests were not afraid to cut loose on the dance floor.
