Alanna and Jake’s MGM Detroit wedding was a day filled with love. But the nighttime celebration brought down the house! Capturing weddings in Detroit is what we do. And if our years of experience have taught us anything, it’s this: the best weddings are always the ones filled with family & friends who are ready to celebrate in honor of the newlyweds, and a wedding party that upholds the couple’s vision while offering their support every step of the way. Alanna and Jake’s wedding was very much that exact sentiment. A coming together of love for everyone in attendance. It was an amazing experience to witness. One filled with heartfelt moments, genuine connections, and a flood of emotions. All of which we captured, and some of which are here for you to take a peek at!
Alanna and Jake did it big, with a wedding ceremony and reception at the MGM Grand Detroit. When we kicked off the day with Alanna and Jake, they were both in their respective getting-ready suites, putting on the finishing touches. For Alanna, it was a spritz of her signature scent before being buttoned into her classic wedding gown. For Jake, it was a matter of fastening his cufflinks, putting on his jacket, and affixing his cala lilly boutonniere.

MGM Grand Detroit Wedding
Once dressed, our nearly newlyweds were ready to meet each other for a first look. So often, couples ask us if a first look will take anything away from the moment they meet each other down the aisle. It’s so easy to just say ‘no, it won’t’, but here’s the reason. Alanna and Jake shared an incredibly deep first look with each other before their walk down the aisle. It was a joyful moment that set the tone for the rest of the day. The magic of it is this: when their wedding ceremony arrived, Alanna and Jake were still overcome with all the (best) emotions. A first look strips away any jitters or nerves that might be hiding just below the surface. Allowing you to be fully present and in the moment when you finally meet down the aisle.
That’s not all that was going on during their wedding ceremony at the MGM Grand Detroit. When Alanna came down the aisle, Jake’s best man (and unofficial wedding day content creator) was snapping away from the altar! He was able to capture hilarious moments with the groomsmen, and this is exactly the reason why who you choose to be in your wedding party matters so much!
Once Alanna and Jake joined hands, their officiant did something fun and unexpected. He had them turn to their guests and gave everyone a moment to pick up their phones and capture the bride and groom before their ceremony kicked off! From there, every tender look, recited vows, and exchange of rings was captured by us. All of which you’ll get to see through the photos below.

A Ballroom Reception
The MGM Grand in Detroit, have you heard of it? Kind of a big deal, and yes, it’s also a wedding venue. In fact, it’s an all-in-one stop shop kind of venue in Detroit where you can host your ceremony and reception. Catering is all done on-site, and you can opt to dress in your wedding day best in one of their hotel suites. But where the party comes together is in the ballroom. Look, you don’t rent the ballroom of the MGM Grand Detroit for your wedding unless you are planning a party of legendary proportions, kijnda like Alanna and Jake did.
The evening kicked off with awesome intros of the wedding party right before Alanna and Jake arrived on the scene. There were incredibly sentimental toasts in their honor, and the decor was sleek with elements like romantic soft lit candles and beautiful floral arrangements made with rich greenery. But a perfect wedding reception is one that has everyone dancing, all night long.
Alanna and her Dad opened up the dance floor with an epic choreographed dance that had the whole room capturing every moment, and applauding their father-daughter moves. Later in the evening, when things really heated up, Alanna changed out of her wedding dress and into a fun and flirty reception gown. We knew it was time to party because that dress was made to move!
