The enchanted forest setting, towering trees, and sprawling landscape that goes on forever, is all nestled behind their home. Providing an unforgettable backdrop for a wedding unlike one we’ve ever seen!

After photographing more than 400 weddings together, we’ve learned that some of the most memorable celebrations don’t happen at traditional venues. Backyard weddings often give couples more flexibility, a relaxed timeline, and the chance to create an experience that’s completely their own.

To transform this backyard in Michigan into a wedding wonderland, Joanna and Tyler enlisted the help of some of the most talented wedding pros in the game. The theme? Garden. The setup? Unforgettable. The entire team transformed a beautiful sprawl of land into an outdoor wedding venue setting, with a cozy and intimate feeling at the forefront. Think: creamy florals, rows and rows of guest tables set with earth-toned glassware, a checkerboard dance floor, and friends and family wiping away happy tears and clinking glasses, all night long.

Want to hear some more amazing details? As a bride, Joanna believes that you can spend the day in Manolo’s. But, she also believes that when it’s time to hit the dance floor, shoes are optional, and when those late-night hours hit, you need a good pair of Converse to keep the party going. Yep – Joanna totally ditched her shoes for her first dance with Tyler, which by the way, one of the most adorable first dances ever! She also kept things casual when she and Dad danced to their special ballad. But when it was time to tear things up, Tyler’s jacket met its demise, and Joanna surprised guests by slipping into a pretty awesome reception dress with matching platform-style Converse.
