Westin Southfield Detroit Wedding

A Westin Southfield Detroit colorblock wedding so fabulous it was featured here, here, and here! Rima & Richard’s wedding was planned so internationally at every single turn, and we cannot wait to spill all the details. For starters, we’ll kick it back to how they met. Rima and Richard are college sweethearts. Their fateful, maybe a tiny bit awkward, first meeting happened when Richard went to have his class ring sized. Rima was on the design committee and chatting with a friend when Richard made an attempt to join the conversation. One Facebook friend request, a DM, and eight years later, they were engaged to be married.

Throughout their meeting, relationship, and subsequent engagement, their creative sides played a big role in their lives together. In fact, Richard used his skills as a 3D digital artist to design and sculpt Rima’s engagement and wedding ring. Together, Rima and Richard also rolled up their sleeves and got to work to bring together their color-blocked wedding arbor. But the creatively inspired wedding day elements and decor did not stop there.

When we tell you that the entire wedding was color-blocked, we are being so for real. Attire for Rima & Richard, along with the wedding party, was vibrant and bold. Including hand-dyed color-coordinated Keds (courtesy of Richard) and vivid bouquets. Their ceremony included unique color-coordinated seating laid out in impeccable rows waiting to be filled by their guests. Finally, the tables at their reception included complimentary color-matched chairs, linens, and flowers. Which, let us be the first to tell you that the view from within the Westin Southfield Detroit garden atrium during their wedding; nothing short of phenomenal!

The impact color had on their wedding was breathtaking. But the fact that Rima and Richard made so many of their wedding day elements added a beautiful touch of meaning to all that unfolded. In addition to the custom wedding rings, ceremony arbor, and hand-dyed Keds, Rima and Richard also made nearly 200 ceramic pots, in an assortment of colors (of course!).

Unbound Creative Details

Those delightful, lively pots were lined up at the entrance to their reception. Each one was laid out to create an impactful hombre pattern. The pots were used as a combined escort card/wedding favor for each of their guests. In addition to the welcome table lined with pots for their guests, there was another truly unique but welcome surprise. During their ceremony, in lieu of a traditional unity ceremony, Rima & Richard continued to pull the thread of creativity and painted a canvas together. This canvas was later set near the welcome table of their Westin Southfield Detroit wedding reception, along with colorful jars of paint, for guests to add in a personal touch. Overall, expanding on the blending of their union and pulling in the love of their guests by way of a collaborative piece of artwork.

If you’ve learned anything about Rima & Richard’s take on how to make your wedding day distinctly yours, then you might be wondering what could possibly have come next. Their wedding reception turned into something akin to a mini Sangeet. Friends, family, and members of the wedding party took to the dance floor to honor Rima & Richard on the night of their wedding.

We can safely say that everyone had an amazing time. The smiles were beaming, the laughter was infectious, and the joy was palpable. It was a beautiful show of love and unity for Rima & Richard. We have no clue who came up with the idea to include cowboy hats and a Shark costume, but we know you’ll dig it either way.
