October Wedding in Downtown Detroit

Kelsey and Alex’s fall wedding was modern meets classic with loads of laughs and some details we’ll never forget! Their custom-named signature cocktails were on point and they didn’t, for one moment, let the impending rain take away a moment of their fun. But, it also makes things easier when you have armfuls of clear umbrellas on standby, just saying!

Getting ready for the day took place at their suites in Greektown Casino. Kesley had her bridal party in tow. Meanwhile, her father and brother waited in the wings for a special first look with the bride. She and Alex decided to exchange personal letters with one another during this time and Alex’s from-the-heart sentiments left our bride in a stream of happy tears. Kelsey also had a little something sent to Alex’s suite for him to open before their ceremony. A brand new, perfectly packaged watch that everyone just had to get a glimpse of! Alex slipped on the watch and everyone was ready to make their way to the church.

Weddings in grand cathedrals always bring on a flood of emotions. It was Alex’s turn for happy tears when his bride made her way down the aisle. With an exchange of glances and a bright smile, Alex was overcome with emotion when he saw Kelsey for the first time on their wedding day. Everyone rose from their seats until Kelsey and Alex were hand in hand, and the rest, as they say, is history. They became husband and wife in a church full of their friends and family. They made their way down the aisle the same way they arrived to each other, hand in hand. Except this time, celebratory smiles replaced happy tears while guests eagerly leaned into the aisle, phones in hand, to get a snap of the newlyweds.

Between their gorgeous cathedral and Colony Club Detroit wedding, we had our pick of backdrops to create an unforgettable wedding photography experience. Knowing that Kelsey and Alex had those modern meets classic vibes, we followed their lead. Gorgeous photos of the bride and groom outside the cathedral. Fun and celebratory photos with their wedding party in the streets. And one final stop to embrace what the rain brought our way. An opportunity to curate wedding photography with a mix of street art and a tiny glimmer of reflection. You’ll get to see how amazingly this worked out, in the photos below! With their wedding ceremony and formal photos officially complete, it was time to hit up the Colony Club in Detroit for their wedding reception.

Like we said, formal photos were done, but the candids were only just getting started! When couples experience their guests during the reception vs the ceremony, there’s a whole lot of magic that unfolds, and we like to be hands-on in our approach. You’ll get to see Kelsey embracing her guests on the dance floor. The bride and groom dying of laughter at the speeches from the wedding party. And, finally, an epic night of celebration, when you scroll through the photos below!

From the Bride

“This should be about the easiest decision you make as you start planning your wedding…hire Rosy and Shaun right away! From shooting our engagement photos in a 60-minute window between thunderstorms (and still getting every shot we wanted!) to their flexibility on our wedding day (for timing and for weather).

Rosy and Shaun were thoughtful, kind, professional, and fun every step of the way. As soon as Rosy and Shaun got to our pre-wedding photos, I felt instantly calm because I knew we were in the best hands. It ended up raining on our wedding day, and Rosy and Shaun instantly had new suggestions for photoshoot locations (which turned out insanely beautifully) because I wanted to try and stay dry.

Despite the location change, they still got our very large wedding party from the church to photos, to the reception on time. Rosy and Shaun knew that the schedule was important to me, and they kept us to it! We feel so lucky to have worked with Rosy and Shaun, who are truly the best in the business. Thank you for everything!”
