HOW DID YOU MEET? We met in our senior year at the College for Creative Studies (2014) through our friend/maid of honor. In the 5 years of dating we had casually talked about getting married and then one day we just decided to set a date!
THE LOCATION: We got married at the Whittier in Detroit, MI. Since most of our family and friends are in the Metro Detroit area we felt it was only natural to host our wedding in Detroit.
DID YOU HAVE A FIRST LOOK? On the day of the wedding we had our first look on the rooftop of the El Moore hotel in Detroit, MI.
DID YOU INCORPORATE ANY CULTURAL, TRADITIONAL OR SENTIMENTAL ELEMENTS INTO YOUR WEDDING DAY? Adi and I are both from culturally different backgrounds. He’s Romanian and I’m bi-racial (African American and Thai). Besides my mother’s Thai wedding gown, we didn’t incorporate other cultural elements into the wedding. We wanted the florals to be the focal point instead.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CEREMONY AND RECEPTION DÉCOR. The Whittier was absolutely gorgeous so we didn’t have to heavily decorate the space. It was the perfect blank canvas to allow our heavily floral centerpieces and backdrop to shine. With Lisa of Pot & Box handling the flowers, we took care of the “Welcome” sign and table numbers. Both were made with pressed flowers we purchased and pressed ourselves. We made the 10 table numbers with hand-poured resin and flowers from Slow Farms in Ann Arbor.
