Wedding at Meadow Brook Hall

Lauren and Danny’s summer wedding at Meadow Brook Hall was a dazzling evening. The best part of the night? When Michigan State University’s own ‘Sparty’ made a guest appearance on the dance floor to bring the energy in the room to max volume!

We knew, instantly that when wedding day arrived, we would have an absolute blast capturing every single moment for the bride and groom. Lauren has a bubbly, vibrant personality, and she wore a gown to match! Once that gown was on, Lauren’s personality came alive. Her gown had an overskirt with a mini skirt underneath and a thigh-high split. It made each and every one of her wedding portraits beyond epic. With Lauren in her gown, our first stop was a first look with the members of her bridal party. They were absolutely in love with Lauren’s wedding day look, you could feel the excitement in the room go through the roof!

Before Lauren and Danny’s wedding reception at Meadow Brook Hall, they said I do with a ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. As their guests began arriving, it was almost like a mini-reunion in the vestibule. Wedding programs were passed out as family members embraced and cracked jokes. When it was time for the ceremony to get started, Lauren and Danny’s guests were seated in the church pews, awaiting the bride’s grand entrance. The church was a sea of smiles when Lauren finally made her debut, with her and Danny joining in Holy Matrimony at the altar.

We couldn’t wait to get the newlyweds to their wedding reception at Meadow Brook Hall for a legendary night of partying. But, we first had to swoop in and do what we do. It was portrait time! Danny, quite dutifully, carried the length of Lauren’s train so they could meet back up with their wedding party for group portraits. The grounds at Meadow Brook Hall, are beyond amazing. Actually, amazing would probably be an understatement! Originally constructed in 1929, Meadow Brook Hall is Tudor-revival architecture wrapped in what is now a National Historic Landmark.

Brick facades, stone paths, and gothic-style doors were all we had on our minds. And we knew that Lauren and Danny’s wedding day style (black tie chic meets modern, naturally) would create some of the most fantastic wedding day portraits we could dream up. While their guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we took a short tour of Meadow Brook Hall, using the architecture as our backdrop. However, the wedding reception was calling, and Lauren and Danny were going to be the first to see the space completely set up. In the wedding industry, we call this a room reveal.

It wasn’t too long before guests began pouring in to find their seats. Toasts were made in honor of the newlyweds and then it was time to get the party started. As the sun went down, the party heated up! The DJ kept the beats pumping. Guests were on the dance floor under strands of cafe lighting and a chandelier. But, there was one more big surprise before the night was through. Good old Sparty from Michigan State University made a grand entrance to a room full of fans!
